Money is overrated and
so are wages.
Goods and services is what it comes down
to. Just think of an imaginary machine is easy to create and that makes
production efforts for any good negligible. In the realm of computers that is
something that already came to be. Computing time is cheap as dirt nowadays. -
Now think of some machine that does the same for production. Everyone would
have access to a high standard of living at almost no cost. And this point
shows the flaw in the article above: GDP is *NOT* an indicator of wealth. It
is the opposite. It is an indicator of how much needs of non-producers are
satisfied.
The higher the GDP the more deficiencies were in place
that needed to be satisfied. GDP is only useful to indicate the
degradation of society and the disempowerment of individuals. This
becomes even more obvious if you think about car crashes or health problems.
Both are bringing down your standard of life if your experience them and both
will increase the GDP.
Other examples:
You can’t make music, so you have to buy a CD.
You look ugly, so you have to buy make up.
You don’t know how to work (out), so you have to hire a personal trainer.
You can’t ride a bike for a reasonable distance, so you have to buy a car, gas,
insurance and pay the repair shop.
Your body is intoxicated with industrial and medical toxins, so you have to
eat an expensive high protein diet to bind all the toxins within your body.
And on and on and on….
None of the conditions above are an indicator of health
or wealth.
The capacity to produce and purchase
useful goods WITHOUT CREATING DEBT is an indicator of wealth. Another
indicator would be how much assets an individual owns. - But nobody’s talking
about that.
